We recruit people, not professions
At CSNSW, we are looking for people from a wide range of backgrounds who are looking to move in a new direction.
Whether you've worked in trades, security, healthcare, retail, farming or hospitality, you may already have the skills needed to become a Correctional Officer.
Starting with a 12 week paid training course and a nationally recognised Certificate III in Correctional Practice, we'll provide the support you need to build a successful career.
What does a Correctional Officer do?
Correctional Officers play an important role in keeping NSW communities safe.
Working across prisons and court cells, they supervise and manage inmates in secured environments.
It's a stable, hands on career that values practical judgement, teamwork, and strong communication skills.
Other duties may include
Keeping inmates accounted for during daily routines like meals, headcounts, and movements.
Watching for safety or security risks and reporting concerns.
Searching cells or common areas to help keep the workplace secure.
Supervising activities like work programs or visits.
Treating people fairly and consistently while enforcing rules.

What's in it for you?
A comprehensive 12-week paid training course.
Ongoing Correctional Officers commence on a base Salary rate of $75,151 pa plus superannuation and penalties
Earn a nationally recognized Certificate III in Correctional Practice.

Eligibility requirements
Minimum age of 18 years old
Hold a minimum of a current
Provisional P1 Drivers Licence
Be an Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
Willing to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
Meet the medical standards to be a correctional officer and have reasonable level of fitness.
Candidates will be required to provide details of visible body art or modifications that are on the face, scalp, ears, neck, or hands as well as tattoos or modifications of an offensive nature.
For this policy, this is specific to the anything visible beyond the fastened collar or buttoned cuff of a long sleeve shirt.
