We are looking for an experienced and motivated Drafting & Design Manager to lead and develop our Drafting and Design teams and play a key role in delivering high-quality working drawings and documentation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential drafting or building design professional who is wanting to make a genuine impact across a well-established business.
About the RoleReporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the Drafting, Design and Shire Liaison teams while ensuring drawings and documentation are delivered accurately, efficiently and within required timeframes.
You will combine strong technical drafting knowledge, residential construction experience and people leadership skills to drive team performance, quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, coach and develop the Drafting, Design and Shire Liaison teams.
Allocate and prioritise workloads to meet project requirements, deadlines and business priorities.
Monitor team and individual KPIs including productivity, turnaround times, quality, accuracy and compliance.
Review and approve working drawings and associated documentation, ensuring compliance with NCC Codes, Western Australian residential building and planning requirements, company standards and construction methodology.
Identify drafting errors, design deficiencies and constructability issues before drawings progress to construction.




Provide technical guidance and support to Drafting and Design staff and the Shire team, along with other departments within the business.
Oversee amendments to working drawings in accordance with approved variations.
Liaise with Engineers, Surveyors and other consultants to ensure information is accurate and received within required timeframes.
Maintain, review and continuously improve drafting standards, templates, libraries, construction details and documentation practices, systems, processes and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce errors and rework.
Identify training and development opportunities and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring.
Contribute technical input into new product development and client discussions where required.
Assist with recruitment, onboarding and induction of team members.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Demonstrated experience in Western Australian single and double-storey residential drafting and/or building design, with sound knowledge of the NCC and Western Australian residential building and planning requirements.
Previous experience leading, supervising or managing a Drafting, Design or comparable technical team.




Proven ability to assess design feasibility and constructability and quality-check complete working drawing packages.
Strong working knowledge of ArchiCAD and relevant drafting/document management systems.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
A practical, analytical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Solid communication and relationship-building skills across internal teams, clients, consultants and management.
A genuine ability to coach, mentor and develop people.
A Certificate or Diploma in Drafting, Building Design, Architectural Drafting or a related discipline is preferred.
