About the role You will need to ensure our Nanya Station infrastructure is operational and facilities and equipment are maintained, cleaned and ready for researchers, students and external parties.
You will also need to ensure minor maintenance works are completed and coordinate contractors to attend site where required.You will:
use knowledge of relevant natural resource legislation relating to biodiversity conservation and pest plant and animal management;
collect and collate data including camera trap maintenance data retrieval and processing, complete field surveys of vegetation and fauna, maintain pitfall traps;
provide support for science, engineering and geology undergraduate courses and research students including field equipment preparation and cleaning, project fabrication, rock collection filing, mineral identification kit cleaning.
maintain Feral Animal **** Baiting program; and
collect field camera data and process images
About you Reporting to the Coordinator, Technical Services, you need experience in supervising contractors, along with a proven ability to apply technical knowledge and maintenance techniques to a range of procedures and tasks.
You will also have experience exercising judgment and decision making in a range of tasks including prioritizing multiple projects and activities.You will possess:
demonstrated knowledge of, and compliance with, relevant OH&S; and EH&S; legislation;
demonstrated skills appropriate to the maintenance and management of remote area field sites, infrastructure and buildings;
demonstrated skills in facilities and equipment maintenance, including willingness to clean and prepare catering, ablution and accommodation buildings;
Ability to process large volumes of camera trap data;
a current driving license is required; and
training or qualifications would be highly regarded in the following; four wheel driving and Tractor or loader experience, First Aid; Wilderness First Aid preferred; Agricultural Chemical Users Permit with a **** endorsement and Chainsaw certification
