SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our mission is to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses by ensuring workplaces comply with health and safety laws. We achieve this through a mix of responsive and proactive programs targeting high-risk areas across all industries, aligned with our strategic plan and regulatory priorities.

Investigations & Enforcement is responsible for leading first-response activities for critical WHS incidents, conducting complex investigations, and driving regulatory enforcement outcomes. The Directorate manages the High-Risk Workplace and Repeat Offender Program, coordinates Enforceable Undertakings and communicates WHS regulatory outcomes to the community.

About the role:

The Assistant Project Officer plays a key role in delivering project and operational support to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and to the required standards. The role supports research, project coordination, data analysis and preparation of key materials such as briefings and reports, while facilitating stakeholder communication. It also provides secretariat support, including coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and capturing minutes. Strong organisational skills are essential to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team, while handling sensitive information with professionalism and resilience.

About You:

This opportunity would suit a resilient,



motivated and committed person with the ability to work in a high volume, fast paced, complex and high-profile regulatory environment. You would provide support to the Investigations and Enforcement Directorate across a broad range of interesting and diverse tasks that enable improved service delivery and support regulatory initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from all team members as we work together on projects.

The ideal candidate must have a strong project management background and:

- The ability to communicate across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Be creative with a good eye for detail and can develop and edit content and visuals for a variety of communications channels and purposes, including web copy, presentations,social posts, and more
- Strong research and writing skills with the ability to prepare briefing notes, presentations, business cases and reports.
- Proven ability to prepare clear, structured meeting agendas and deliver accurate, timely minutes
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a solution focused consultative and collaborative approach
- Strong reporting capability, including the interpretation of data
- Proven self-motivation with a focus on delivering outcomes
- Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Experience coordinating and managing accurate records and databases,



complying with administrative systems, processes and policies, to ensure that all information is accurate,stored correctly and accessible
- Contribute positively to team outcomes and support a high-performing work environment
- Resilience and professionalism, with the ability to handle exposure to sensitive WHS Incident information
