Flourish Australia is seeking an authentic, compassionate Peer Worker to join our team delivering the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support (CPS) Program.
This structured, recovery-oriented role is ideal for professionals committed to walking alongside people with psychosocial challenges—supporting them to build capacity, strengthen community connections, and live independently.
The position available is:Closed-term Full-time until 30 June 2027Working in your local community in GympieMonday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pmAttractive hourly rates equivalent to $40.49-$43.42/hour + Super + Salary Packaging!
About the OpportunityAs a Peer Worker, you will work in the community to support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health challenges to achieve their hopes and dreams. Your personal lived experience of mental health challenges, trauma, recovery and navigating services is recognised as a form of Lived Experience Expertise. You use this expertise intentionally, safely, and purposefully to build relationships grounded in mutuality, shared understanding, respect, and hope.
On a day to day basis you will:Deliver structured, time-limited, and goal-oriented support in line with CPS national guidelines, focused on improving daily functioning and achieving recovery goals.Collaborate with participants to co-design and implement individual recovery plans based on their strengths, needs, and aspirations.Effectively contribute to decreasing stigma and discrimination around having a lived experience of a mental health challenge.Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and adapt supports as needed.Co-facilitate group programs that promote recovery, social connection, skill-building, and personal development.Provide capacity building support across key life domains including housing, employment, education, physical health,



and social engagement.Connect participants with mainstream and community services to foster long-term independence.Full criteria and position description are available within the application.

Selection CriteriaA Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia).A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery.Willing and able to effectively, respectfully, and appropriately use your lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery.Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
