Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Locum GP VMO or CMO In-Charge to support Emergency Department cover across a longer locum period.

This role is suited to a confident doctor with strong Emergency Medicine experience who is comfortable managing ED presentations, providing in-charge cover and escalating care appropriately when required.

There are multiple shifts available across October through to January, making this a great opportunity for doctors seeking consistent regional locum work.

Clinical Environment:

GP VMO / CMO in-charge Emergency Department role
Regional hospital setting within Hunter New England LHD
Longer locum block available
In-charge ED coverage
Suitable for doctors confident working in rural and regional ED settings

Key Duties:

Provide in-charge Emergency Department cover
Assess and manage ED presentations
Support urgent presentations and clinical decision-making
Complete documentation and handover
Escalate care appropriately when required

Eligibility Criteria:

Current AHPRA Registration
Recent Emergency Medicine experience
GP VMO or CMO in-charge experience preferred




Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
Ability to work safely within scope and escalate appropriately
Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
