About the role
Aplus Nursing Agency is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Female Support Worker/Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN) specialising in Dementia & Behaviour Support to join our team in Launceston, Tasmania. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals living with dementia and complex behaviours. You will work within our community services framework, providing person-centred care and support that promotes dignity, independence and quality of life for vulnerable members of our community.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with dementia, including assistance with activities of daily living such as hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
- Support and de-escalate challenging behaviours through evidence-based techniques and a compassionate, patient approach
- Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users, family members and carers
- Monitor and report on the physical and emotional wellbeing of individuals in your care, communicating any changes or concerns to your supervisor
- Assist with medication reminders and support (if holding appropriate qualifications)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided and any incidents or observations
- Support service users to engage in meaningful activities and social participation
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including nurses, care coordinators and other healthcare professionals
- Adhere to all safeguarding, confidentiality and duty of care requirements
- Contribute to a safe and clean environment, maintaining hygiene and infection control standards
What we're looking for
- Female candidates with current or previous experience working in aged care, disability support or dementia care settings
- Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN) qualification or relevant support worker certification (such as Certificate III in Aged Care or Certificate IV in Disability)
- Demonstrable experience in supporting individuals with dementia and responsive behaviours
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
- Patient, empathetic and non-judgmental approach to care
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to person-centred care and respecting individual dignity and autonomy
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Police Check and Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable, punctual and professional demeanour
- Flexibility to work casual hours across days, evenings and weekends as required
