Your Role

As we continue our growth strategy at JMC,

we have a high volume of open vacancies nationally. To support us to deliver on our growth agenda, we are looking for a very experienced recruiter with targeted search expertise to join our People & Culture team on a fixed term basis.

With a passion for high service standards and achieving results, you will be responsible for end-to-end recruitment, including proactively searching and headhunting for talent, building relationships with hiring managers across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane campuses. You will manage end-to-end recruitment, including drafting job ads, screening, interviewing, shortlisting and offering support to help our leaders appoint high calibre talent.

You will bring market insight to every brief, keep candidates informed and engaged throughout, and work at pace without compromising quality.

This is a hands-on role, where you will be a self-starter, who is able to manage a high volume of vacancies. You will work closely with the People & Culture, JMC Leadership team, but will be required to work autonomously with no direct reports.

What you'll do:

1. Talent Acquisition & Search

Search & Sourcing

- Search proactively for candidates rather than relying on advertising response — using LinkedIn Recruiter or equivalent, job board talent search, referrals, and industry and alumni networks.
- Headhunt and directly approach passive candidates, managing the relationship from first contact through to shortlist.
- Build a working knowledge of the talent market for JMC Academy’s discipline areas, so searches are targeted and candidates can be found quickly.
- Maintain talent pools for recurring and hard-to-fill roles as a by-product of search activity.

Recruitment Delivery

- Partner with hiring managers to scope each vacancy, confirm the position description, agree the selection method and set realistic timeframes.
- Write and post job ads through Employment Hero to SEEK and other channels, manage applicant flow and shortlisting, and coordinate interview panels and scheduling across campuses.
- Complete reference checks, right to work verification, qualification verification and pre-employment checks, and support offer and placement activities through to the candidate's acceptance and commencement.

Selection & Assessment

- Screen and interview candidates, and prepare candidate summaries, shortlists and recommendations for hiring managers and People & Culture.
- Support panels to assess candidates against criteria consistently, and document the basis for shortlisting and selection decisions.

Candidate Experience

- Provide timely, respectful communication to every applicant, including outcome advice to unsuccessful candidates.
- Represent JMC Academy professionally and consistently in all candidate interactions, in keeping with the purpose, vision and values.
- Work within JMC Academy's established recruitment framework and continually identify opportunities to improve the candidate and hiring manager experience.

Industry Engagement

- Build and maintain networks across the creative industries and higher education to strengthen JMC Academy’s access to talent.
- Integrate current industry practice and market intelligence into sourcing strategy and hiring manager advice.

Administrative Accountability

- Understand and follow JMC Academy policies and procedures, and act in accordance with them.
- Keep vacancy and candidate records up to date in Employment Hero for job posting and shortlisting, and maintain the remaining recruitment records accurately outside the system.
- Maintain accurate, complete and confidential recruitment records for every vacancy.
- Meet all regulatory requirements, including Working with Children Check and JMC Academy policies.
- Maintain privacy compliance and non-discriminatory practice at every stage of the recruitment process

2. Work Health, Safety & Wellbeing

All JMC Academy employees share responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. In this role, you are expected to take reasonable care for your own health and safety, and for the health and safety of others who may be affected by your work; comply with JMC Academy’s WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices, and follow reasonable instructions from JMC or emergency response personnel; report all hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses to your line manager as soon as practicable; participate in WHS consultation, training and wellbeing initiatives relevant to your role; and contribute to a respectful, inclusive and psychologically safe work environment, free from bullying, harassment and discrimination.

What you'll bring:

- A very experienced talent acquisition, search or sourcing professional with substantial hands-on search experience across a broad range of role types and industries, although Education expertise will be highly regarded.
- Genuine proactive sourcing capability rather than reliance on advertising response alone.
- Proven capability with search techniques and LinkedIn Recruiter or equivalent, with a general understanding of HRIS systems; experience with Employment Hero desirable.
- An excellent communicator and relationship builder, with high level interpersonal, written and verbal skills and the ability to influence hiring managers.
- A professional ‘people person’ who enjoys building and working with candidates, clients and industry networks, and is dedicated to helping organisations and candidates grow and thrive.
- Well-developed organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent vacancies and competing priorities to tight deadlines without loss of accuracy.
- Comfortable working self-sufficiently in a quick-moving creative environment.
- A committed team player, able to work within a multidiscipline team effectively, collegially and collaboratively.
- Motivated to make a difference and passionate about adding value, with a desire to continually learn, innovate and be the ‘best you can be’, and visible alignment with JMC Academy’s purpose, vision and values, including a commitment to quality, equity, and cultural and social diversity.
