About the role
The Senior HR Consultant delivers expert HR and industrial relations advice while contributing to Workplace Edge's growth and client relationships. The role combines consulting, client management, workplace investigations, project delivery and business development. The successful candidate will provide commercially sound recommendations and help retain and grow client work. This role suits an experienced HR professional who enjoys solving complex workplace issues across diverse industries.
Key responsibilities
- Provide practical HR advice on employment law, Modern Awards, the NES, contracts, policies and HR practice.
- Advise on performance, misconduct, disciplinary processes, re-structures, change, redundancy and employee relations matters.
- Prepare clear written advice, letters, employment documents, policies, guides and client communications.
- Advise on Modern Awards, enterprise agreements, classifications, wage compliance, BOOT assessments, Fair Work obligations and disputes.
- Prepare submissions, correspondence and documentation for industrial relations matters.
- Translate employment law and industrial relations changes into practical client guidance.
- Conduct workplace investigations involving bullying, harassment, misconduct, grievances and policy breaches.
- Conduct workplace investigations in relation to workers' compensation claims on behalf of employers and insurers.
- Maintain procedural fairness, confidentiality and sound judgement throughout each process.
- Build trusted adviser relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Understand client needs, identify people risks and provide proactive recommendations.
- Maintain regular contact and deliver high-quality work on time and within scope.
- Identify and convert appropriate opportunities for additional client work.
- Support proposals, presentations, networking and referral relationships.
- Lead or support HR audits, compliance reviews, workforce reviews, policy projects, planning and training initiatives.
- Escalate risks early and ensure deliverables are practical, accurate and professional.
About you
- At least 5 years' senior HR consulting, HR management, employee relations or industrial relations experience.
- Strong understanding of Australian employment law, Contemporary Awards and the Fair Work Act.
- Experience managing complex employee relations matters and providing practical advice.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and writing detailed investigation reports.
- Excellent written communication skills, including advice, reports and formal correspondence.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities and meet agreed timeframes.
- Consulting experience in a professional services or advisory environment (desirable).
- Detailed understanding of Queensland workers' compensation legislation (desirable).
- Mediation, dispute resolution or facilitation experience (desirable).
