We're looking for an experienced Revenue Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, financial reporting, billing operations and revenue optimisation across a diverse range of funding streams and service agreements.

About the role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll be responsible for ensuring revenue is recognised accurately in line with Australian Accounting Standards, funding agreements and taxation requirements. You'll also oversee billing and collections activities, support financial reporting and forecasting, and help drive process improvements across finance systems and workflows.
This is a highly collaborative role that partners closely with operational teams, finance colleagues and key stakeholders across the organisation.
You'll make an impact by:
- Managing the accurate recognition, reconciliation and reporting of grant and contract revenue
- Monitoring funding streams and investigating revenue discrepancies, variances and acquittal issues
- Preparing revenue reports, forecasts, reconciliations and variance analyses
- Supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Leading the billing and collections function, including team leadership and performance development
- Overseeing invoicing, collections, customer account management and overdue receivables
- Strengthening financial controls, compliance processes and audit readiness
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across revenue, billing and finance processes
- Building strong relationships with operational stakeholders and providing financial insights to support decision-making.
What you'll bring
- Demonstrated experience in revenue accounting, financial reporting and reconciliations
- Experience leading or mentoring finance, billing or collections teams
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, financial regulations and taxation requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial analysis capability
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial audiences
- Robust attention to detail, problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
- Experience within the health or not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
Qualifications
- CPA or CA qualification and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce (Accounting), Business (Accounting) or a closely related discipline.
