Position summary

ECG Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Control Systems Engineer to join our site-based team on a major Pilbara iron ore project. This is a hands-on site execution role working an 8/6 roster, supporting the implementation, testing and commissioning of control system changes developed by the broader project team.

You will work closely with the client, site operations and ECG engineering team to ensure control system modifications are safely and effectively implemented in the field.

About the role

- Support the site implementation and commissioning of control system modifications using Schneider PLCs and Wonderware System Platform.
- Review and understand PLC and SCADA changes developed by the office-based engineering team prior to site implementation.
- Perform I/O testing, loop checks, functional testing, SAT and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, communications, instrumentation and third-party equipment integration issues.
- Make minor PLC and SCADA modifications where required to resolve site issues and support commissioning.
- Verify control logic, sequences, interlocks, permissives, alarms and process control functionality against the approved design.
- Work directly with client representatives, operations,



maintenance teams, vendors and other engineering disciplines to resolve site issues.
- Identify design gaps, commissioning constraints and technical issues and communicate these clearly to the project engineering team.
- Ensure site changes, test results and commissioning outcomes are accurately documented.
- Provide practical technical guidance and support to other site personnel where required.

About the candidate

- A relevant engineering degree, diploma or equivalent industry qualification.
- Strong experience working with industrial control systems in a site, commissioning or operational environment.
- Hands-on experience with Schneider Modicon PLCs, ideally including M340 and/or M580 platforms.
- Experience with Wonderware System Platform / AVEVA System Platform.
- Strong knowledge of PLC logic, SCADA configuration, instrumentation, industrial communications and process control systems.
- The ability to quickly understand existing control system code and diagnose technical issues in an operating plant environment.
- Strong practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with client, operations, maintenance and engineering teams.
- Experience in iron ore will be highly regarded.
- Australian working rights and the ability to work an 8/6 roster in the Pilbara.
