Take the Lead on Complex Construction Disputes

A highly regarded national law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to its growing Construction and Infrastructure team in Brisbane. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced construction disputes lawyer who wants to work on complex, high value matters while taking a more visible and influential role within the team.

You will work directly with experienced partners, sophisticated clients, senior counsel and experts across disputes arising from major projects throughout Australia. The team is collaborative, commercially focused and known for giving senior lawyers genuine ownership of their matters. This is not a role where you will sit several layers removed from the strategy. You will be involved in the decisions that shape each dispute, trusted to manage key workstreams and encouraged to build strong client relationships.

The Work

The practice advises across the full range of contentious construction and infrastructure matters, including:

- Supreme Court and Federal Court litigation
- Domestic and international arbitration
- Security of Payment adjudications
- Mediation, expert determination and contractual dispute processes
- Delay, disruption and extension of time claims
- Defects, variations, payment and termination disputes
- Complex technical and expert evidence
- Strategic advice during live project delivery

The team acts on matters across energy, resources, renewables, transport, utilities, property development and major infrastructure.

The Role

At this level, you will be expected to take a leading role across substantial disputes. Your responsibilities will include:





- Managing complex matters with a high level of autonomy
- Working directly with senior client stakeholders
- Drafting pleadings, submissions, evidence and detailed advice
- Developing strategy with partners, counsel and experts
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
- Managing competing deadlines across large and technically complex disputes
- Contributing to client relationships and the continued growth of the practice

The role can be shaped around a newly promoted or established Senior Associate, through to an experienced Special Counsel.

About You

You will have solid experience in contentious construction matters and a genuine interest in building your long‑term career in this area. You will also bring:

- Strong litigation, arbitration or adjudication experience
- Excellent drafting and analytical skills
- Sound commercial judgment
- Confidence managing matters and client relationships
- A practical approach to complex problems
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers
- The ability to work well within a close, high‑performing team
