The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our team on a major $85 million education project located in the southern suburbs of Brisbane.
Reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the Group Safety Team, you will play a pivotal role in championing their safety-first culture on-site. You will provide practical guidance, ensure compliance with health and safety legislation,
and support sub-contractors and site personnel in maintaining a zero-harm setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and promote proactive safety initiatives, daily take 5s, and site safety inductions.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and hazard identifications across the construction site.
- Ensure full compliance with their Integrated Management System (ISO45001) and relevant WHS legislation.
- Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Partner with site management and sub-contractors to drive a collaborative and accountable safety culture.
- Maintain accurate safety records, registers, and reporting documentation.
About You
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Possess
- Minimum 3+ years of Health and Safety experience within the commercial construction industry (education or large-scale building project experience highly regarded).
- The previous experience we are seeking is with a builder
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS minimum).
- Sound knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive problem-solving capabilities and a resilient, hands-on approach to site safety.
