Role Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist reporting to the Head of Data Science, you will uplift the organisation's data science capability by embedding within the business, building strong relationships, and translating complex challenges into practical, data-driven solutions. You'll lead end-to-end machine learning initiatives, from discovery to deployment, and ensure the adoption of scalable models that drive meaningful impact across the organisation.

You will design and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to ensure reliable access for analytics and ML use cases. You will proactively engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities, define problems, and ensure solutions are implemented and adopted effectively.

Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end data science and machine learning initiatives from ideation through to deployment and monitoring
- Mentor junior and mid-level data scientists, promoting best practices in modelling, ML engineering, and business alignment
- Design and maintain robust data pipelines and architectures to support scalable analytics and ML workflows
- Apply techniques such as A/B testing, causal inference, and optimisation to drive data-informed decisions
- Champion MLOps practices, including model versioning, automated retraining, and performance monitoring
- Explore and prototype cutting-edge approaches in areas like computer vision, optimisation, and generative AI
- Communicate insights effectively through clear visualisations, presentations, and tailored documentation

The ideal candidate is a curious, business-focused data scientist who proactively uncovers opportunities to drive operational efficiency, revenue growth, and continuous process improvement. You will influence and engage stakeholders effectively, clearly articulating the impact of data science on business performance. As a senior contributor, you will champion a culture of data-driven decision-making and uplift data science capability across the organisation. You are a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise across the full data science lifecycle from ideation and modelling to deployment and monitoring in production. Comfortable exploring complex data sets and communicating insights in business terms, you bring strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Azure Databricks, and Azure cloud services, along with working knowledge of A/B testing frameworks and modern ML toolsets. You're also a strong advocate for MLOps, building scalable, maintainable ML solutions that last.
