Australia's Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism advises the Prime Minister and the Minister for Home Affairs, and works with the community, education, cultural and online sectors. The office is small and highly visible, and its work is the subject of sustained public and media scrutiny.

The key duties of the position include:

The Director leads the media and communications function of the office, including public affairs and community engagement. The position is principally a writing role and requires the drafting of material at short notice on sensitive subject matter.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

- Draft media releases, statements, opinion pieces, talking points and question briefs for the Special Envoy and the office.
- Write speeches and remarks on behalf of the Envoy for community, education, sector, parliamentary and diplomatic audiences.
- Lead identified public or community relations projects, as a representative of the Envoy as required.
- Develop and maintain the office's media strategy, including the timing, channel and audience for public statements and the circumstances in which the office will not respond.
- Act as the first point of contact for media enquiries, place proactive coverage, and prepare the Envoy for interviews.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

​The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:

- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
