Could you be the next Workshop Boilermaker or Second Class Welder to join a busy, established fabrication team in South-West Brisbane?
Due to a strong pipeline of ongoing work across government, structural, aluminium, and general fabrication projects, the workshop is ramping up and looking for reliable people who want steady local work.
This is not a short-term two-week rush. The work is ongoing, the pipeline is building, and there is plenty to get stuck into.
What’s in it for you?
- Boilermakers: starting from $53 - $56p/h
- Second Class Welders: $47.50 - $50p/h
- Pay progression available for second class welders based on skill level, attendance, reliability, and overtime commitment
- Strong hours available, with up to 58 hours per week on offer for those who want them
- Ongoing local workshop-based work
- Positive variety across structural steel, aluminium, stainless, and bespoke fabrication
- Opportunity for second class welders to grow their skills and work across different jobs
The roles
Workshop Boilermaker
You’ll be working in the main workshop on the more technical fabrication work, including:
- Medium structural steel fabrication
- Walkways and handrails
- Roofing structures
- Shade structures for schools
- Bridge-related projects
- Bespoke fabrication for government contracts
- Stainless steel work, if competent
- Other general boilermaking and workshop fabrication duties
This role suits a confident boilermaker who can read drawings, work independently, and take ownership of quality fabrication work.
Second Class Welder / Fabricator
We are also looking for experienced second class welders to support the workshop and help free up the boilermakers for more complex work.
Duties may include:
- Fabricating and welding aluminium cages
- Handrails
- Downpipes
- General welding and fabrication
- Repetitive fabrication runs
- Assisting across the main workshop when required
You do not need to be a trade-qualified boilermaker for this role, but you do need solid welding/fabrication experience, a good attitude, and the ability to produce clean, reliable work. Drawing reading is highly regarded, but not essential if you are switched on and willing to learn.
What you’ll need
For Boilermaker applicants:
- Australian recognised trade qualification
- Structural steel / fabrication experience
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Australian working rights
- Valid driver’s licence
- Standard tools
- Air-fed helmet, or willingness to obtain one
For Second Class Welder applicants:
- Previous welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to work safely and produce quality work
- Experience with handrails, aluminium, light fabrication, or general workshop welding highly regarded
- Ability to read drawings is desirable
- Australian working rights
- Valid driver’s licence
- Welding helmet and basic PPE
Desirable, but not essential
- Forklift ticket
- Dogging ticket
- Stainless experience
- Aluminium experience
- GMAW and/or GTAW experience
- Experience in structural, workshop, or government project work
Why this role?
This is a good fit if you want steady, local workshop work with variety. The team has a strong pipeline of projects and needs people who can come in, contribute, and help keep jobs moving.
If you’re a qualified boilermaker looking for ongoing workshop work, or a second class welder who wants more than just repetitive factory work, apply now to discuss the role.
