Are you an experienced veterinarian ready for a new challenge or looking to take the next step into leadership?

Vetlink is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join a six-vet small animal hospital on the Central Coast. This full time position combines hands-on clinical work with the opportunity to lead and mentor a collaborative veterinary team, supported by a dedicated practice manager and experienced nurses.

The position is based on a 38-hour week, with one in five Saturdays and no after-hours work, Sundays or public holidays. The successful veterinarian will provide comprehensive veterinary care across a diverse small animal caseload while helping lead the veterinary and nursing team. There is scope to introduce new strategies, expand services and bring clinical innovations to the practice, as well as opportunities to pursue professional interests.

The modern, purpose-built hospital is fully equipped with an in-house laboratory featuring Idexx Procyte and Catalyst One, EPOC blood gas and Qlabs coagulation analysers, Easote ultrasound, GTR Labs x-ray with DR digital radiography, iM3 digital dental radiography and a Companion therapy laser. The practice has received local and national business awards and is certified as a Great Place to Work.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent degree recognised in Australia and have at least five years of experience. A strong clinical background and growth mindset are required.

Previous experience mentoring and leading veterinarians in a supportive veterinary practice is desirable but not essential, making this a potential next step for an experienced clinician looking to develop their leadership career. Tailored training and professional development are available to support the successful applicant.

The package includes a competitive base salary plus superannuation, structured performance reviews and quarterly clinic leadership incentives. Additional benefits include a bonus/equity program, novated vehicle leasing options, a CPD allowance and paid study leave, paid parental and purrental leave, access to an EAP and a Certified Skilled Mental Health First Aid® workplace. Flexible work options, referral bonuses, team perks and relocation support are also available.

Living and working on the Central Coast offers easy access to beaches and national parks, while Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley are within driving distance. It offers an appealing base for a veterinarian who wants to combine their career with access to the coast, outdoor recreation and some of New South Wales’ best-known surrounding regions.

The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
