Description

Join WA Country Health Service (WACHS) as a Consultant Paediatrician (Adult) and be part of a supportive team offering leadership opportunities and excellent work-life balance.

Fixed Term Part Time (0.8 FTE, 64 hrs/fortnight) position available to cover parental leave from 8 July 2026 - 30 April 2027.

Consultant Year 1-9: $412,161 - $523,436 per annum (pro rata).

Inclusive of base salary, PD allowance and 12% superannuation.

About the role As a Consultant Paediatrician, you'll provide a high standard of evidence based paediatric clinical care to in-patient, outpatient and community based developmental services for Great Southern patients.

Albany Health Campus manages approximately 6,500 paediatric Emergency Department presentations each year, resulting in around 1,200 admissions, alongside approximately 500 births annually.

You'll join a highly motivated and friendly team delivering high-quality paediatric care to the region.

The roster is lifestyle-friendly, with on-call responsibilities shared across 5 consultants and supported by a senior paediatric registrar.

Key responsibilities

Provide comprehensive clinical care of general paediatric, neonatal and developmental patients within the Excellent Southern region





Work within a multidisciplinary paediatric team delivering integrated care across the Great Southern region

Provide clinical leadership in service development, quality improvement, and patient safety

Supervise, mentor, and educate GPs, registrars, junior doctors, medical students, and nursing staff

Participate in on-call/after-hours rosters while engaging in CPD, training, research, and stakeholder collaboration

Hold specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia without restrictions

Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health) or equivalent that is recognised for registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia

Demonstrated clinical experience in paediatric patient management including acute care, neonatal care, ambulatory care, child protection and developmental and behavioural paediatrics

Please note:

this position does not have capacity to support supervision for trainees or SIMGs.

Candidates must be able to practise independently without clinical supervision.
