We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Panel Shop Manager to take ownership of the day-to‑day operation and help build the panel shop from the ground up.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to play a key role in establishing and developing our panel and paint operations.
Reporting to the operations leadership team, you will be responsible for managing workshop operations, building a high-performing team and ensuring vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the panel and paint workshop.
- Build, manage and develop a team of Panel Beaters, Spray Painters and other workshop staff.
- Establish efficient repair workflows, processes and quality standards.
- Allocate and monitor repair jobs to ensure timely completion.
- Monitor productivity, turnaround times, quality and workshop performance.
- Coordinate parts, equipment, suppliers and external service providers.
- Conduct quality checks and ensure repairs meet company and manufacturer standards.
- Manage workshop safety, housekeeping and compliance requirements.
- Monitor work in progress (WIP) and ensure accurate job documentation.
- Work closely with internal teams to coordinate vehicle movement and repair requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, quality and profitability.
- Support the growth and development of the panel shop as the business expands.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience managing a panel shop, body shop or automotive repair workshop.
- Strong knowledge of automotive panel beating and paint repair processes.
- Proven experience leading and developing workshop teams.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage multiple repair jobs and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A hands‑on and proactive approach to workshop management.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
Highly Regarded
- Experience in a dealership, smash repair or vehicle preparation environment.
- Experience working with EVs or new energy vehicles.
- Experience establishing or developing a new workshop operation.
- Knowledge of insurance repair processes and industry standards.
- Relevant automotive trade qualifications.

- $110,000–$130,000 + superannuation, depending on experience.
