The Prospect
A unique chance is available for a Consultant General Surgeon to join a major tertiary service in the Northern Territory on a 12-month full-time contract.
Based across Royal Darwin Hospital and Palmerston Regional Hospital, you will deliver high-quality surgical care across a vast and diverse catchment — including remote and regional communities.

The Role
As a Specialist General Surgeon, you will:
- Provide comprehensive general surgical services to inpatients and ambulatory patients
- Manage patient flow, including inpatient ward rounds and outpatient clinics
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster, including emergency surgery
- Deliver specialist advice to clinicians across the Northern Territory, including remote and isolated centres
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care and referral pathways
- Engage in teaching, mentoring, and supervision of junior medical staff
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and continuous professional development
The Health Service
Royal Darwin Hospital is the principal tertiary referral centre for:
- Darwin and the Top End of the Northern Territory
- Parts of Western Australia
- South-East Asia referral pathways

Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent
- Eligibility for Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Experience as a Consultant General Surgeon
