Position overview
Under the broad direction of the General Counsel, the supervision of a Deputy General Counsel and working with other senior legal staff in the University LegalOffice, provide legal advice and carry out tasks of a legal nature.
The scope of the legal work undertaken by the Legal Office includes research and commercial contracts, information technology agreements and advice, public law advice, litigation, dispute resolution, and compliance matters within theUniversity framework and the higher education sector. Lawyers are regularly exposed to complex transactions, both withinAustraliaand internationally.
Your duties will include the provision of legal advice to the University across a broad range of matters, including on legal implications of policy proposals. You will participate in higher education legal professional fora, develop networks and liaise with colleagues across the sector.
You will possess legal practice skills relevant to the operations of the University.
