Break O'Day Council is looking for a Senior Planner to lead the planning function within its Development Services team, working alongside building and environmental health.

You'll take ownership of development assessment, the core of the role, while also having scope to get involved in strategic planning, policy work and the council's digital transformation journey. Two planners; a Town Planner and a Graduate Planner, report to you, and you'll carry delegation close to that of the Development Services Manager. You'll also work directly with councillors and the mayor and put together reports for council.

It's a manageable caseload: around 130 DAs a year, mostly residential, with no large developers or complex applications to navigate. That said,



the council fields active lobbying on environmental issues like vegetation removal and flora/fauna impacts, so there's real stakeholder management involved.

This would suit someone looking to step up into a role with genuine oversight and delegation, and it could equally work as a stepping stone toward a manager-level position down the track.
