Quarry Manager / Site Senior Executive (SSE)

Our client is seeking someone with substantial experience within Quarry leadership. Their quarry is in North Brisbane, with a remediation plan to hand the quarry over for development within the next 3 – 4 years. Thereafter, there would be many project options to move onto.

There is lots of work to be done: Drill, Blast, Excavation, Crushing, Screening, Surface Extraction and compaction ready for handover.

The role will include:

- Ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Build the team and ensure the Safety and Environmental obligations are achieved
- Build the development of the team, including developing the 2iC/ Supervisor. Promote and implement a Continuous Improvement culture across all activities and teams.
- Monitor the risk levels of all quarry activities and ensure safeguards and procedures are in place to successfully deliver without damages, safety or environmental impacts.
- Monitor the procedures and equipment to ensure they are effective and compliant with regulations.
- Conduct inspections and monitoring cut faces, benches and quarry works.
- Maintain and focus on productivity to achieve the targets set by the client and the business.




- Keep ahead of all regulatory changes and amendments, including but not limited to: Safety, Environmental and quarry legislations.
- Liaising with the end client (landowner) and DNRME.

The most suitable candidate for this role will have experience of the following:

- Leading teams in heavy manufacturing, preferred Quarries and or Surface Mining
- Understand the regulatory requirements of an SSE in Queensland.
- Either a current SSE Notice for a surface mine, or quarry employing more than 20 people (would be ideal) or a Diploma of Surface Operations Management or Current Mining Supervisor S123 or G189
- Demonstrated experience within the Quarry industry to qualify for the company to put you through the SSE ticket.
- Experience with drilling and blast
- Experience with GPS /Surveying
- Experience with Crushing, Screening
- Experienced driving Workplace Health and Safety, MQSHA and Site SMPs
- Must have the right to work in Australia
