Task & responsibilities Prepare and cook diverse dishes - including mains, meat, vegetarian and vegan options — following established recipes and kitchen standards, using techniques such as grilling, frying, roasting, and basic sauce-making to ensure consistent quality. Carry out all food preparation tasks - washing, peeling, chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients — to keep cooking operations running efficiently, and ensure finished dishes are neatly presented and meet portion and quality standards. Cater to special dietary needs, preparing vegetarian, vegan,
and gluten-free meals as required, and assist with menu planning and daily specials as directed by the Chef.
Support smooth service delivery by coordinating food preparation and timing with the Chef, kitchen supervisor, and front-of-house staff, especially during busy periods. Manage stock and storage responsibly - monitoring stock levels, assisting with deliveries, labelling correctly, and using proper refrigeration/freezing methods to maintain freshness and reduce waste. Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including correct food handling practices, temperature control, and workplace health and safety regulations.
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, ensuring all utensils, equipment, and work areas comply with hygiene standards, while following the Chef's instructions and working collaboratively with the team. Qualification & experience Relevant qualification Previous experience of more than 1 years' working as a Cook, preferably within a rapid-paced environment. Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles and safe food handling practices.
Demonstrated experience preparing a range of dishes, including mains, meat, and vegetarian/vegan options. Experience catering to special dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) is highly regarded. Working knowledge of stock control, and correct storage/labelling procedures.
Physical capacity to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment. Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work well under pressure.
Salary: $80000-85000
