About the organisation
The Coalition of Peaks is a representative body of more than 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled peak organisations and members who have come together to Close the Gap, in partnership with Australian governments.
We share a belief that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should have a meaningful say on policies and programs related to Closing the Gap through formal partnerships with Australian governments at all levels.
The Coalition of Peaks Policy and Secretariat Team supports the work of the Coalition of Peaks, providinghigh leveland comprehensive policy and strategic advice to Peaks Members, to support the implementation and monitoring of actions in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
About the role
The Senior Policy Officer works under the guidance of the Assistant Director to support Coalition of Peaks to effectivelyparticipatein the First Nations Economic Partnership. This includes drafting meeting papers, briefings and reports, progressing out-of-session research and policy development andproviding administrative and logistical support to Peaks Members where required.
Qualifications, technicalexpertiseand experiencerequired
You willhave at least three years’ policy experience and a sound understanding ofthe factors affecting economic participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including economics, employmentand/or training policy,programsand systems. The Senior Policy Officer alsorequiresademonstrated understanding of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. You work well in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace andhave the ability toadjust as priorities change.
You will be able to apply your policy,researchor advocacy skills to achieve theobjectivesof the team. You are collaborative and a team player, who shares their knowledge andexpertisewith others to build capabilities across the team.
