Overview
Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
We are looking for a Clinical Superintendent in Surgery. The position is a twelve‑month appointment for a recent surgical graduate (FRACS) with an interest in medical management and medical education.
Responsibilities
The Clinical Superintendent will work closely with the Heads of Surgical Departments, the Director of Medical Services and their team, senior medical staff, Doctors‑in‑Training and Hospital management, acting as a key liaison for the coordination and management of medical education, wellbeing, learning and day‑to‑day junior medical staff activities.
The successful candidate will also undertake up to 0.5FTE clinical duties in a discipline relevant to their qualifications, subject to approval, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within their specialty department and hospital as required.
They will ensure a high standard of professional performance and foster an academic environment supporting education, wellbeing, research and professional development.
Qualifications
- Current medical practitioner, registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Interest and capability in medical management, education, wellbeing, research, and professional development.
Salary and Conditions
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
