About the role

The Project WHS&E; Manager is responsible for leading the effective management of health, safety and environmental requirements across the project. As a key member of the project delivery team, the role ensures WHS&E; requirements are integrated into project planning and execution and that the project operates in accordance with legislative, client, Principal Contractor and SSI SCHAEFER requirements. Working closely with project leadership, site management, subcontractors and other stakeholders, the role provides specialist WHS&E; leadership and advice, manages project WHS&E; risks and performance, and leads the project WHS&E; team to support the safe and successful delivery of the project.

Key responsibilities

Lead WHS&E; across the project, ensuring safety and environmental requirements are integrated into project planning and delivery

Lead, coach and develop the project WHS&E; team and promote a proactive safety culture across the project

Provide specialist WHS&E; advice to project leadership, Site Managers, Supervisors and installation teams

Develop, implement and maintain project WHS&E; management systems, plans and processes

Lead project risk management, including risk assessments, SWMS, SOPs, critical risk reviews and high-risk work activities

Manage WHS&E; requirements for subcontractor onboarding, induction, compliance and ongoing performance

Lead site inspections, assurance and audit activities and ensure corrective actions are effectively managed and closed

Lead investigations into incidents, near misses and environmental events, including statutory reporting and follow-up actions

Monitor and report on WHS&E; performance, compliance, environmental risks and emerging issues

Act as the lead WHS&E; representative with the client, Principal Contractor, regulatory authorities, subcontractors and other key stakeholders

Lead consultation and engagement across the project, including safety committees, coordination meetings and toolbox talks

Oversee emergency preparedness and response, injury management and return-to-work activities

About you

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Minimum 10 years' relevant WHS&E; experience within construction, installation or major project environments, including substantial experience in a senior WHS&E; leadership role
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and managing WHS&E; management systems within complex project environments
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Australian WHS legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice and relevant standards
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing WHS&E; personnel and supporting project teams to achieve WHS&E; outcomes
- Extensive experience in project risk management, including risk assessment, critical control verification and high-risk work activities
- Demonstrated experience managing contractor and subcontractor WHS&E; requirements, including onboarding, consultation,



compliance and performance
- Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and the implementation and monitoring of corrective and preventative actions
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering WHS&E; assurance programs, including audits, inspections and compliance activities
- Sound knowledge of environmental management, environmental risk controls and compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of high-risk construction and installation activities
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide practical advice and influence WHS&E; outcomes at all levels
- Diploma of Work Health and Safety
- Current Construction Industry White Card and Australian Driver Licence
- Formal Incident Investigation training

Experience in industrial automation, intralogistics, material handling or similar complex installation projects, commissioning activities and ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems will be highly regarded.
