The HSSE Business Partner serves as the primary on-the-ground health, safety, and environmental delivery resource for PDS ANZ’s project portfolio, operating as an independent assurance layer rather than executing project teams’ HSSE work.
An Overview of the Role
You conduct independent site inspections, audits, and compliance verification across assigned projects, providing qualitative field intelligence that complements data-driven reporting. Your role is to verify implementation, provide technical guidance, and report findings—not to perform project teams’ HSSE responsibilities for them.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits covering health, safety, and environmental compliance; track corrective actions; feed findings into JLL systems for reporting; participate in pre-construction risk reviews.
- Provide technical HSSE guidance to Project Managers and site teams; support escalations and incident investigations; engage subcontractors on compliance; participate in toolbox talks and mentor junior staff.
- Build collaborative relationships with project teams and clients; support HSSE documentation and reporting; act as a practical partner rather than enforcement officer.
- Identify trends and systemic issues; contribute to framework development; stay current with legislation and best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ HSE experience in construction/property with demonstrated site-based delivery.
- Tertiary qualification or diploma in WHS; solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation across jurisdictions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence without authority.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Relevant certifications (First Aid, White Card); ISO 45001 knowledge.
- Security clearance eligibility for government work.
