About the organisation
The Coalition of Peaks is a representative body of more than 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled peak organisations and members who have come together to Close the Gap, in partnership with Australian governments.
We share a belief that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should have a meaningful say on policies and programs related to Closing the Gap through formal partnerships with Australian governments at all levels.
The Coalition of Peaks Policy and Secretariat Team supports the work of the Coalition of Peaks, providinghigh leveland comprehensive policy and strategic advice to Peaks Members, to support the implementation and monitoring of actions in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
About the role
The Assistant Director applies their policy expertise and communicationskills to support the Coalition of Peaks to effectively participate in the First Nations Economic Partnership through providing high-quality policy advice and briefings, progressing out-of-session research and policy development and providing bespoke support to Peaks Members.
Qualifications, technical expertise and experience required
You will have an in-depth understanding of the factors affecting economic participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including expertise in economics, employment and/or training policy, programs and systems. The Assistant Director also requires a demonstrated understanding of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. You work well in a quick-paced, dynamic environment andhave the ability toadjust as priorities change.
You will be able to apply your policy,researchor advocacy skills to achieve theobjectivesof the team. You are collaborative and a team player, who shares their knowledge andexpertisewith others to build capabilities across the team.
