We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter for an ongoing afternoon shift opportunity within a busy manufacturing environment.
This is a hands‑on maintenance role working across packaging machinery and pillow and quilt production areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for breakdown maintenance, machine setups, preventative maintenance, repairs and plant improvements, with a strong focus on keeping production running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend to breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical issues across production machinery
- Complete machine setups across packaging machinery and pillow and quilt production areas
- Carry out preventative and routine maintenance on plant and equipment
- Maintain hoppers, including motors, bearings and associated components
- Top up oils and lubricants as required
- Clean filters and remove fibre build‑up from towers and machinery
- Carry out general mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Manufacture and fabricate parts to improve or repair equipment
- Perform machining work within the workshop/mill
- Complete basic TIG welding where experience allows
- Assist with equipment installations and plant improvements
- Ensure machinery is operating efficiently and minimise production downtime
- Work as part of a team alongside skilled trades and production staff
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment
- Attend emergency breakdowns outside normal shift hours when required
- Assist with scheduled weekend production and preventative maintenance when required
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production setting
- Strong breakdown and fault-finding experience
- Experience maintaining production and packaging machinery
- Mechanical experience with motors, bearings, pumps and associated equipment
- Ability to carry out preventative maintenance
- Basic machining experience highly regarded
- TIG welding experience highly regarded
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Shift & Pay:
- Monday to Friday, afternoon shift with overtime available
- Pay rate of $61.56hr (including casual loading).
