The role

As part of the day‑to‑day tasks of the role, you will:

- Create and review Safety Assurance Plans for client projects that address the full system lifecycle
- Develop and review Safety Assurance Statements and Reports
- Provide justification of achievement of Safety So Far As is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP)
- Manage and review Hazard Logs associated with various projects
- Participate in and facilitate hazard identification and assessments such as PHA, SHA, FMECA, HAZOP, etc.
- Use engineering change management tools to ensure design modifications are adequately assessed
- Construct safety arguments using GSN and CAE
- Engage in the derivation of safety‑related requirements and in verifying and validating them through relevant project lifecycle stages
- Advise on the safe design and installation of safety‑critical systems

About you

- Relevant degree in engineering, computer science or risk/safety




- At least 2 years’ experience working in Systems Safety / RAMS
- Experience working in a safety or systems engineering role within aviation or defence industries
- Authoring and editing safety plans and safety cases using GSN and/or CAE methodologies
- Demonstrated experience in the application of safety regulations such as International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Regulations and Certification
- Thorough understanding of Australian safety‑related legislation such as WHS and CASR
- High level communication and negotiation skills, including advanced report‑writing skills
- Experience with Air Traffic Management Systems or communications systems
- Experienced with Space Industry Regulations and practices
- Airworthiness and Part 21.J Design Certification
