An established and growing transport organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Fleet to take ownership of its fleet strategy, asset performance and lifecycle management across a significant transport operation.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially minded fleet skilled who understands that successful fleet management is about much more than keeping vehicles on the road. You will be responsible for driving fleet reliability, utilisation, safety, compliance and whole-of-life cost, while ensuring the fleet continues to support the wider operational and commercial objectives of the business.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will provide strategic direction across the fleet function while maintaining strong operational oversight of fleet performance.
You will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive fleet strategy covering asset acquisition, maintenance, utilisation, replacement, compliance and disposal.
Key Responsibilities

- Lead the overall fleet strategy across a large and diverse transport fleet.
- Develop long-term fleet lifecycle, replacement and capital expenditure strategies.
- Own fleet CAPEX planning, forecasting and business cases.
- Drive improvements in fleet availability, reliability and utilisation.
- Establish and monitor fleet performance KPIs and reporting.
- Lead preventative and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Optimise whole-of-life asset costs and minimise unplanned downtime.
- Work closely with operational leaders to ensure fleet capacity aligns with business requirements.
- Provide leadership across fleet, maintenance and workshop functions.
- Manage relationships with OEMs, dealers, suppliers and external maintenance providers.
- Ensure fleet assets remain compliant with relevant safety,



regulatory and road transport requirements.
- Identify opportunities to introduce new technology, systems and processes across the fleet function.
- Develop asset replacement strategies based on age, utilisation, reliability and total cost of ownership.
- Provide senior leadership with clear reporting on fleet performance, risks, expenditure and future requirements.

About You
We are looking for a proven Fleet, Asset or Transport leader who has managed a sizeable fleet environment and can operate comfortably at both a strategic and operational level.
You will ideally bring:

- Significant experience leading fleet or asset management within transport, logistics, heavy industry, mining, infrastructure or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicles, mobile equipment and associated maintenance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing fleet lifecycle and replacement strategies.
- Strong commercial and financial capability, including CAPEX and OPEX management.
- Experience leading maintenance and/or workshop teams.
- A track record of improving fleet availability, reliability and utilisation.
- Strong supplier, OEM and contractor management capability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to analyse fleet data and turn it into commercially sound decisions.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style combined with strong strategic thinking.
