The Role
ABC News is looking for a Radio Sub Reader to join our Darwin newsroom. This role is responsible for producing, sub-editing and presenting high-quality news content across radio live bulletins, digital and on-demand platforms. You'll work as part of a small, team-oriented team, ensuring audiences receive accurate, relevant and engaging coverage of local, national and international stories.
The Job
- Produce, sub-edit and present news content for radio broadcasts and digital platforms.
- Write and check stories for factual accuracy, styleconsistencyand editorial quality.
- Present radio news bulletins to a high professional standard.
- Create on-demand audio news content for a range of audiences.
- Contribute original story ideas and participate in editorial planning.
- Build and maintain networks of contacts to generate and develop news stories.
- Collaborate with local and network colleagues to deliver strong cross-platform coverage.

About You
You're an experienced journalist with strong editorial judgement, excellent attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment.
You’ll have:
- Demonstrated experience in broadcast and digital journalism, including sub-editing and content production.
- Strong on-air presentation skills and the ability to deliver clear, confident radio bulletins.
- Excellent writing, editing and time management skills with a proven ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
- A current and valid driver’s licence
