Contract Overview

- Role title: Senior Communications and Engagement Officer
- Location: NSW Government agency office in Sydney CBD (hybrid working arrangements)
- Rate: $560 to $640 per day + super (depending on experience)
- Start date: ASAP or 12 January 2026 or 19 January 2026
- End date: Temporary to 30 June 2026 with potential for extension
- Hours: 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week

About the Role

This is a key senior role within a NSW Government communications and engagement team. You will develop and deliver strategic communications and engagement to support the NSW Women in Construction Program and related initiatives.

- Lead the overarching communications strategy for the WIC Program to build public awareness and drive stakeholder engagement in line with NSW Government priorities
- Manage media activity including drafting media releases and developing media plans for ministerial opportunities to support positive coverage
- Develop targeted communications and engagement plans for internal and external audiences with clear and consistent messaging across channels
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, industry partners, government agencies and ministerial offices through regular engagement and quality briefings
- Plan and deliver high impact events that promote the WIC Program including logistics, guest communications, collateral and strategic messaging




- Identify and coordinate speaking opportunities and prepare talking points and presentations while managing approvals processes
- Oversee the creation of communication assets such as newsletters, event materials, presentations, digital content and video from concept through to delivery
- Maintain and optimise WIC web content and monitor engagement so that it aligns with broader communication objectives
- Track and report on communications performance and prepare quarterly reports and award submissions that showcase program achievements

About You

- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, marketing or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience managing complex communications and engagement initiatives ideally in government, infrastructure or related sectors
- Strong track record in media relations including drafting media releases and coordinating media opportunities
- Experience developing and implementing integrated communications and engagement plans across multiple channels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear and compelling content
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, industry representatives and ministerial offices
- Solid project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver high quality outcomes under pressure
