A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Finance Officer to join a well-established not-for-profit organisation based in Alice Springs. This organisation delivers essential services and programs that support communities across Central Australia and is seeking a finance professional who can contribute to the smooth operation of a busy finance team.
This role offers a diverse mix of accounts, administration, and stakeholder engagement responsibilities and would suit someone with robust attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and previous experience in a finance or bookkeeping environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices and payments (Accounts Payable)
- Manage debtor invoicing, receipting, and collections (Accounts Receivable)
- Perform bank reconciliations and daily banking activities
- Process corporate credit card transactions and reconciliations
- Maintain petty cash and financial records
- Prepare travel allowance and workshop payment requests
- Enter journals and assist with month-end finance activities
- Liaise with suppliers, staff, and external stakeholders regarding finance-related queries
- Assist with reporting requirements, audit preparation, and general finance administration
- Support the broader finance team with ad hoc duties as required
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Finance Officer, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper, or similar role
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using accounting software, preferably Xero, MYOB considered
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Qualified and friendly approach when dealing with stakeholders
- Previous experience within a not-for-profit or community-focused organisation will be highly regarded
