Overview

Research Fellow in Developmental Biology / Functional Genomics at University of Melbourne. This role focuses on evolutionary-developmental biology and functional genomics, with emphasis on wing development in vertebrates and mechanisms in bats. The position is based at the Parkville Campus and reports to the Lab Head, Professor Andrew Pask and Senior Research Associate Dr Axel Newton.

Base pay and terms

Role Type: Full-time, Fixed term for 12 months
Faculty: Faculty of Science
Department/School: School of BioSciences
Salary:
Level A - AUD $85,555 - $116,094 p.a. or
Level B - AUD $122,212 - $145,121 p.a.
plus 17% super (retirement savings system/pension scheme)

Your responsibilities

- Lead collaborative research: Manage and work with teams on experimental design, data analysis, and project reporting.
- Develop and deliver courses: Engage students through innovative teaching, supervision, and mentorship.
- Enhance research outputs: Prepare research proposals, publish in high-impact journals, and present findings at conferences.
- Uphold ethical standards: Contribute to animal ethics applications and promote university values of diversity and integrity.

You may be a great fit if

You are an experienced evolutionary-developmental biologist with a PhD in molecular biology, adept at computational and functional genomics, and eager to lead innovative research in a collaborative setting.

- Have a proven track record in computational and developmental biology.

- Have experience in supervising and training research students.
