Are you looking for a rewarding long-term career where you can make a genuine difference in someone's life? We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Personal Assistant to join our established team, supporting a 33-year-old non-verbal man with autism and complex needs to live independently in his own home. This is a unique, highly person-centred role where consistency, trust and meaningful relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
You don't need previous experience—we're looking for the right person with a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn. We provide comprehensive paid training, structured shadow shifts and ongoing support, along with a detailed care plan to help you feel confident in the role.
This is a full-time permanent position with a fixed annual rota, giving you the benefit of knowing your shifts well in advance. The role is not live-in due to the breaks between shifts, and you will be the most senior member of the team on site whenever the Service Team Manager is off duty. While we are happy to discuss reduced hours if you cannot work the full rota, this would reduce the annual basic salary before any overtime.
The annual package is £40,680, including six weeks of paid annual leave. Daytime support hours are paid at £18.00 per hour, with £89.10 paid for each sleep-in, which forms a regular part of the role. Overtime opportunities may also be available.
Your annual rota follows a consistent pattern:
- Monday: Evening shift and sleep-in, starting at 8:00pm
- Tuesday to Thursday: Split shifts, 8:30am–10:00am and 6:00pm–sleep
- Friday: 8:30am–10:00am, or on your allocated weekends 2:00pm–sleep
Weekend commitment: Work 8 weekends per year only:
- Friday: 2:00pm–sleep
- Saturday: 8:30am–6:00pm
- Sunday: 10:00am–sleep
- Monday: 8:30am–2:00pm
The role involves supporting all aspects of daily living, maintaining routines and promoting independence. Personal care is included and involves supporting with shaving and haircuts. A company automatic vehicle is available while supporting the individual, so a valid driving licence with entitlement to drive automatic vehicles is essential.
We are looking for someone seeking a long-term career who is flexible enough to work their scheduled rota and provide emergency cover when required. Patience, commitment and a calm, person-centred approach are key to succeeding in this role.
If you're unsure whether the role is right for you, you're welcome to spend some time with the individual and the Service Team Manager before deciding.
Our recruitment process includes an initial telephone conversation, a meet and greet with the individual and Service Team Manager, a second in-depth interview, up to two trial shifts, and finally paid training and shadow shifts for successful candidates. This thorough process helps ensure the right long-term match for both you and the person we support.
If you're looking for a rewarding career where your support will have a genuine and lasting impact on someone's life, we'd love to hear from you.
