An opportunity working as a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant has arisen within the Physiotherapy Department. You will be working in a role based in our in-patients service, which cover the following specialties : Department of Medicine for the Elderly (DME); Medicine; Orthopaedics; Surgery; Stroke and Neurosciences.

Within each of these areas, you would be working with an experienced team treating a range of patients with diverse presentations within a practical and hands-on environment.

This position is intended for those new to healthcare and who are either interested in developing knowledge, skills and understanding of physiotherapy or pursuing future physiotherapy under‑graduate training and looking for an opportunity to gain valuable practical experience.

The Trust offers an Apprenticeship scheme to train to become a Physiotherapist. Please note that applications are only open to internal support staff.

Assist physiotherapists by delivering joint treatments and creating a safe treatment environment, working both supervised and independently with delegated patient caseloads.

Manage and progress patient treatment programmes, monitoring patient responses and reporting significant changes to physiotherapists.

Maintain accurate patient records, ensure cleanliness and safety of equipment and treatment areas, and liaise effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.

Communicate clearly with patients of varying abilities and needs, inspiring and involving families to support rehabilitation.

Participate in ongoing training and competency development, maintaining professional standards and contributing to service improvements.

Work flexibly to meet service needs, including shifts covering weekdays, evenings, and weekends, with appropriate rostering and unsocial hours pay.
