The Paediatric Psychologist provides specialist psychology services to children aged 0-12 years and their families, supporting emotional wellbeing, mental health, behavioural development, participation, and functional outcomes across homes, school and community settings. The role will require delivering clinical services and assessment through individual and group interventions, counselling, therapy and programs for mental health, emotional wellbeing and complex family concerns. Your role will provide a variety of functions including assessments that identify individual strengths, skills and needs, develop personalised treatment plans, monitor client progress and adjust strategies to achieve therapeutic goals.

Key responsibilities

- Provide evidence-based psychological interventions to people with mild to moderate mental health issues, behavioural disorders and/or neurodevelopmental conditions
- Undertake psychological and behavioural assessments and provide compilation of reports and letters for patients, insurers, doctors and other health professionals
- Undertake risk assessments and implement appropriate interventions where concerns relating to child safety, suicide risk, self-harm, abuse or neglect are identified
- Provide education, coaching and practical strategies to parents, carers and support networks to enhance outcomes
- Completion of case notes and well formulated reports and letters in a timely manner and in accordance with required standards
- Maintain clinical files, records, and minimum data set requirements to facilitate good clinical management and accountability
- Promote referrals from Dundaloo Practitioners, Paediatricians, GPs and other allied health professionals for individuals and families who require relevant specialist support and assessment
- Conduct effective and efficient provision of service to ensure access, promotion and delivery maintains dignity for the legal and human rights of clients
- Develop and strengthen Dundaloo's model of support for people by liaising with relevant key stakeholders




- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, partner organisations, and stakeholders to provide the highest possible outcomes for clients

About you

- AHPRA registered Clinical Psychologist, Psychologist, or Clinical Psychologist Registrar
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology
- Advanced clinical skills and demonstrated high level clinical problem solving in paediatric psychology including extensive experience in assessment and delivery of therapy in both group and one to one model for clients with developmental difficulties and/or functional delays which impact their daily routines and activity participation
- Experience in supporting people with complex psychological and behavioural needs such as self-harm
- Ability to work with children, families and adults respectfully
- Ability to perform cognitive assessment and familiarity with ASD and ADHD profiles and assessments
- Prior experience in working with children who have experienced complex developmental trauma and the accompanying complexities
- Demonstrated skills in clinical assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment
- Experience working as a psychologist under multiple funding and practice frameworks such as Community Health, NDIS, Victims Services and Medicare
- High level and effective interpersonal skills, including teamwork, leadership, communication (written and verbal), and conflict management
- Strong organisational and time management skills, productive and flexible work practices including the ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, prioritise, and respond to change
- Competent in the use of information technology e.g., Microsoft Office and Client Management Systems
- Current Driver's Licence for NSW
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- First Aid Certificate
- Professional Indemnity Insurance
