Training Consultant - MOCA (Management of Clinical Aggression)

- Part time ongoing | 40 hours per fortnight
- Lead MOCA education across RMH Mental Health Services
- Champion staff wellbeing and post-incident support

About the role

The Training Consultant - MOCA (Management of Clinical Aggression) will lead education and wellbeing initiatives that reduce restrictive interventions and support staff in managing acute Mental State Deterioration and associated behavioural disturbance. This role fosters a proactive, trauma-informed approach, prioritising early intervention, de-escalation, and staff wellbeing.

Working collaboratively with Learning & Development, the RMH OVA team, Allied Health and Nursing leadership, you will support the integration of MOCA into a hospital-wide training model, build local trainer capability and deliver tailored education across clinical and non-clinical teams.

You will also promote post-incident wellbeing through psychological first aid, reflective practice and resilience-building initiatives. By embedding early intervention and psychological safety into everyday practice, you will help reduce restrictive practices, strengthen staff capability and enhance safety and wellbeing across RMH Mental Health Services.

Key Accountabilities

- Overseeing MOCA training integration to a hospital wide single training
- Supporting local trainers, and delivering tailored education to build confidence across clinical and non-clinical teams
- Promoting post-incident wellbeing initiatives; including psychological first aid, reflective practice, and resilience-building
- Embedding early intervention and psychological safety into workplace culture
- Enhancing staff capability, championing a reduction in restrictive practices, and strengthening overall safety and wellbeing at RMH MHS.





About You

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong commitment to best practice, trauma-informed approaches and reducing restrictive interventions. Ideally, you will bring postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing or an equivalent discipline, along with experience in education, clinical practice or staff development.
