Ascent Training Solutions is seeking an experienced Compliance Specialist to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and strengthening quality and compliance across our Registered Training Organisation.
This is a experienced, hands-on compliance role suited to an experienced VET professional with strong knowledge of RTO regulatory requirements and the confidence to work across complex compliance matters.
We are open to appointing the right candidate on either a permanent full-time basis or an initial 6-month full-time contract, depending on experience, suitability and individual circumstances.
About the Role
The Compliance Specialist will support a broad range of quality, compliance and continuous improvement activities across Ascent Training Solutions.
You will work across both planned compliance activities and day-to-day operational matters, providing high-level technical expertise while helping embed strong compliance practices throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring compliance with the Standards for RTOs 2025, regulatory requirements and other applicable VET sector obligations
- Conducting internal audits, compliance reviews and organisation-wide health checks
- Supporting preparation for regulatory audits and responding to audit findings where required
- Reviewing training and assessment practices, resources and documentation for compliance and quality
- Supporting validation activities and reviewing validation outcomes, practices and documentation
- Reviewing trainer and assessor qualifications, credentials, vocational competency, industry currency and professional development evidence
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining policies, procedures, registers, templates and compliance documentation
- Identifying compliance gaps, risks and improvement opportunities and supporting effective rectification
- Monitoring regulatory and VET sector changes and helping translate requirements into practical operational actions
- Reviewing student files, records and RTO documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance
- Supporting training product development, implementation, transition and ongoing scope compliance
- Monitoring continuous improvement activities and ensuring identified actions are appropriately implemented and recorded
- Providing practical,
considered compliance advice to the RTO Manager and staff across the organisation
- Supporting compliance awareness across administration and training teams
- Assisting with funding contract compliance and associated requirements where applicable
About You
This position will suit an experienced VET compliance professional who is comfortable working at a higher technical level and working both autonomously and as part of a team on complex compliance matters.
You will have the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and determine what they mean in practice, rather than relying solely on checklists or established processes.
You will be confident working independently when required while also collaborating closely with management and the wider organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated high-level compliance experience within the VET sector
- Strong understanding of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and their practical application within an operating RTO
- Demonstrated ability to identify compliance risks, investigate issues and develop practical rectification strategies
- Strong internal auditing, quality assurance and continuous improvement capability
- The ability to critically review training and assessment practices and evidence rather than simply confirming that documentation exists
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- The confidence to provide clear, well-considered and evidence-based compliance advice
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to develop high-quality policies, procedures, reports and compliance documentation
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work across multiple compliance activities simultaneously
- A practical and team-oriented approach to compliance, with the ability to work effectively with administration, trainers, assessors, consultants and management
- The ability to take responsibility for compliance activities from initial identification through to rectification and completion

We do not expect every candidate to meet every point, so if you have strong VET compliance experience and meet most of the criteria, we encourage you to apply.
- Experience preparing for, participating in or responding to ASQA or other regulatory audits
- Experience using aXcelerate or a similar Student Management System
- Experience within RTOs delivering training to the civil construction, mining or related industries
- A current Training and Assessment qualification, such as the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent
- Qualifications in compliance, quality assurance, auditing, risk management, VET or another relevant discipline
- Experience reviewing or developing training and assessment resources
- Experience with trainer and assessor compliance and credential management
- Experience with VET regulatory reporting, funding requirements or government-funded training programs

Location and Hours
This is a full-time, office-based position located in Northgate, Queensland.
Standard working hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm.
