We are looking for a Legal Officer to join the Land Titles Office (LTO) in Hobart, Tasmania. In this role you will support the LTO through the provision of legal and policy advice, statutory interpretation, legal research and contribute to legislation and legal education initiatives.
Working closely with the Principal Solicitor and Recorder of Titles, you will contribute to a diverse range of matters, including strata title administration, compliance examinations, complex land dealings, litigation management and the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
This is a permanent full-time position (73.50 hours per fortnight), based in Hobart.
About the role

Our ideal candidate has
- A strong foundation in statutory interpretation, legal research and policy development.
- The ability to apply legal principles within operational environments, particularly in property law, land legislation or land titling systems.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and confidently to a range of audiences.
Position requirements
- Admitted, or qualified for and entitled to be admitted, as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania under the Legal Profession Act 2007.
- This role is suited to an early-career legal practitioner, including graduate practitioners and those with up to three years' relevant post-admission experience.
