Position Description
Leadership role within the Tax Division of a Mid‑Tier Accounting Firm in Sydney.
Working across a range of different clients, industries, taxes and tax issues both domestically and internationally. This is a wide and varied role, one typically only found in a mid‑tier size firm, not a highly specialised large firm. Each day will typically bring variety and challenge across different taxes.
In our role you will be expected to demonstrate superior Tax Services leadership across our firm both directly to our clients and indirectly through supporting other divisions within our firm. You need to live and breathe Tax with a passion and have strong tax technical skills and experience.
Ideally the next career step within a short time frame for the person in this role is to become a partner in the firm.
Ideal Attributes
- Prior Tax experience (of at least 10 years) at a Big 4,
mid‑tier accounting services firm
- CA or CPA / Master of Taxation / CTA or equivalent qualification
- Exposure to SGE’s, multinational companies, listed companies, large private groups and SME’s
- Ability to build strong relationships with a range of clients at differing levels
- Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to undertake business development activities
- Strong problem‑solving and tax technical skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement
- Strong tax advisory skills with a proven history of working on complex transactions
- Strong understanding of tax compliance requirements
- Experience with dealing with the ATO, tax audits and with other external stakeholders / advisers
- Ability to project manage and deliver multiple client engagements
- Experience managing and mentoring talent through coaching and on‑the‑job training
- Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, or similar
- Thorough knowledge of Australian tax regulations and relevant industry standards
- Experience in advising on complex tax matters for businesses and individuals is an advantage
