About the Team
Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to supportseveral nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibilityspanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulkproducts, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array ofconsumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for bothimport and export markets. The Operations teams work withinseveral complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiestrail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable servicedelivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
About the Opportunity
JoinARTC in a hands-on role supporting the safe and reliable operation of criticalrail infrastructure across the workingacross the interstate rail network. Reportingto the Team Leader Infrastructure Support, you will use your carpentrytrade skills while undertaking a broad range of infrastructure maintenance, repair and construction activities. You’ll also operate machinery and supportrail and track maintenance activities as part of a collaborative field-basedteam.
This isa great prospect for a qualified Carpenter looking to apply theirtrade skills in a unique rail environment and work across one of Australia’smost significant freight networks. This role operates on a 14 days on, 7 days off roster, with team members working away from home approximately 90% of the time. Accommodation is provided when working away from home.
Aboutthe Role
- Perform trade-related maintenance, repairs andconstruction activities across ARTC infrastructure.
- Undertake carpentry works and general infrastructuremaintenance as required.
- Assist with rail and track maintenance andconstruction activities.
- Operate machinery, vehicles, tools and equipmentsafely and effectively.
- Complete required safety checks and maintainaccurate documentation.
- Support the safe and reliable operation of civilinfrastructure across the corridor.
- Work collaboratively with team members and otherARTC worksites as required.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents and injuriesin accordance with ARTC requirements.
- Comply with ARTC’s Safety Management System andEnvironmental Management System.
- Actively contribute to a strong safety culture andARTC's commitment to No Harm.
What do we want from you?
To besuccessful in this role, you will have:
- Concrete work or experience (desirable).
- Current Australian driver’s licence and ability todrive a manual vehicle.
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a field-basedteam environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability and willingness to undertake physical,hands-on work.
Previous rail industry or track maintenance experience and current RailIndustry Worker competencies will be highly regarded.
