Queensland Foster and Kinship Care (QFKC)
is establishing regional Carer Hubs across Queensland, creating more opportunities for foster and kinship carers to connect, learn, access information and strengthen their networks of support.
We are looking for an experienced and values-driven Senior Team Leader to lead the statewide Carer Hubs program and support our team of regionally based Retention and Development Officers.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people and ideas together, supporting staff to do their best work and turning a shared vision into meaningful activity across communities.
Alongside your statewide leadership responsibilities, you will also lead the delivery of Carer Hub activities across Brisbane and Moreton Bay, keeping you connected to carers, stakeholders and the practical delivery of the model.
About the role
Help shape a new statewide model if support for foster and kinship carers.
As Senior Team Leader, you will provide leadership, supervision and guidance to QFKC's Retention and Development Officer team, supporting a consistent statewide approach while allowing each Carer Hub to remain responsive to the unique needs and opportunities within its region.
You will work closely with the Manager to help implement the strategic vision and direction of the Carer Hubs program, coordinate statewide priorities and initiatives, strengthen collaboration across the team and maintain oversight of regional activities and emerging opportunities.
Importantly, this isn't a leadership role that sits at a distance from the work. You will also be responsible for bringing the Carer Hub model to life across Brisbane and Moreton Bay.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision, guidance and support to a regionally dispersed team of Retention and Development Officers;
- Lead consistent and high-quality delivery of the Carer Hub model across Queensland;
- Coordinate statewide priorities, projects and initiatives;
- Build community capacity and strengthen networks of support for foster and kinship carers;
- Develop strong partnerships with support agencies, Child Safety, community organisations and other stakeholders;
- Facilitate opportunities for carers to connect, contribute ideas and influence the development of activities and supports;
- Coordinate and deliver engaging training, webinars, forums and information sessions;
- Use carer feedback, regional trends and data to inform planning and continuous improvement; and
- Lead Carer Hub activities and initiatives across Brisbane and Moreton Bay.
About you
We are looking for a leader who is collaborative, approachable and confident supporting people across a geographically dispersed team.
You will understand the foster and kinship care sector and recognise the importance of keeping carers and their lived experience at the centre of how services and initiatives develop.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to support, guide and develop staff and foster a positive team culture;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of foster and kinship care and the broader child protection environment;
- Experience leading the implementation and ongoing development of programs or service initiatives;
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills;
- Confidence developing and delivering engaging training, forums, information sessions and capacity-building activities;
- An ability to listen to and elevate carer voice and identify emerging themes, systemic issues, service gaps and opportunities;
- Strong organisational, analytical and reporting skills; and
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to navigate complex or sensitive matters with professionalism and sound judgement.
Relevent tertiary qualification
Substantial demonstrated experience in human services, child protection, community services, social work or a related field, together with demonstrated leadership experience within a human services, community services or related environment.

- A fortnightly paid day off, recognising the reasonable additional hours associated with the requirements of the position;

- The opportunity to help shape the development of the Carer Hub model across Queensland.
Travel throughout Queensland, including occasional overnight travel, may be required to support regional Carer Hub activities, training and stakeholder engagement. Some flexibility in working hours may also be required for activities outside standard business hours.
12 month contract with likely extension dependent on funding.
