- Fabricate, assemble, and weld thin gauge metal components to specifications using detailed drawings
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on 1.1mm to 3mm light gauge steel, including Zincaneal, Galvabond, mild steel, and stainless steel
- Grind, clean, and polish steel components
- Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, standards compliance, and structural integrity
- Adjust components using grinders or other cutting tools
- Fit components using jigs and perform general jobbing work fitting special hardware
- Read and understand workshop drawings
- Fabricate profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery
- Identify material types and thicknesses
- Conduct quality control checks on own work and complete required paperwork
- Report defective goods
- Perform basic equipment maintenance
- Keep the work area clean and safe
Requirements
- Sheet Metal or equivalent work experience
- Welding experience
- Ability to work within tolerance and ensure product quality
- Ability to maintain required production levels
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Compliance with Spence Doors standards, procedures, and WHS guidelines
- Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment
- Ability and willingness to follow direction and work independently
- Ability to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level,
and square
- Ability to complete assigned work within the given timeframe and specifications
- Ability to operate sheet metal machinery and welding equipment
