We are seeking to establish a pool of Technical Support Officers for permanent and fixed term, full time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Byford Secondary College is a newer school in Perth’s southern suburbs. We have first class facilities to support high quality teaching and learning programs in our college. Located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD, our college caters for 1500 students in Years 7 through to 12 students. We offer a unique setting to many other metropolitan schools, with a blend of urban and rural students; this creates a vibrant mix of students and staff within the college community.

The Role

As a Technical Support Officer, you provide first-level and second-level support for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and services. You will assist with the installation, maintenance, and support of ICT systems and services, including Windows and macOS devices, printers, iPads, network hardware, telephone systems, and software, in accordance with established specifications.

The successful applicant will ideally have an understanding of Department of Education WA ICT software, systems, processes, and structures to effectively manage, coordinate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues as they arise. Technical support professionalswill ideally display the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. You will ideally follow instructions accurately,



exercise sound judgement, and maintain respectful, professional, and effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all times.

Your responsibilities include testing and maintaining hardware and software applications in accordance with the Department's standard operating environment and quality management procedures. You will also undertake research to identify appropriate software, hardware, and other ICT resources and technologies.

Additionally, you will provide ICT technical support to local primary schools and across learning areas, liaise with external service providers to resolve ICT equipment incidents, and assist with maintaining the ICT resources and assets register in accordance with departmental security policies and procedures.
