The position will initially be approximately 0.5 FTE (around 50% of full-time hours). Working hours and arrangements can be flexible and discussed based on the successful candidate's circumstances and our operational requirements. Depending on the candidate and the nature of the work, office-based, hybrid or remote working arrangements can be discussed. Regular attendance at the office is not necessarily required and can be agreed based on practical needs. As customs clearance volume grows, there will also be an prospect to increase working hours and expand the scope of the role.
Key responsibilities
Preparing and lodging import declarations and other customs clearance documentation
Reviewing shipping and commercial documents to ensure compliance with Australian customs and biosecurity requirements
Providing customs classification, valuation and compliance advice where required
Liaising with Australian Border Force, Department of Agriculture, clients and internal operations staff
Resolving customs clearance issues and responding to queries
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all brokerage activities meet regulatory requirements
About you
A current Australian Customs Broker Licence
Previous practical experience working as a Customs Broker in Australia
Good knowledge of Australian customs regulations and import clearance procedures
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Freight forwarding industry experience will be highly regarded
