Power Electronics is a global leader in high-power electrical solutions for the renewable energy sector. Our advanced inverters, batteries, and drives are engineered and manufactured in Spain, then deployed across Australia and Worldwide to power major projects in energy, mining, and industrial markets — and we need a Senior WHS Coordinator to help our Australian team get there safely!
About the Role
The Senior Safety Coordinator is a people-first safety leadership role. You'll be the trusted advisor management and team members turn to on health, safety and wellbeing, while leading and developing a Safety Coordinator.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the WHS function for Power Electronics Australia, advising leaders and team members on their safety duties and due-diligence obligations
- Coaching, mentoring and developing the Safety Coordinator — delegating routine work and owning the higher-level, strategic pieces yourself
- Championing an exceptional safety culture by building genuine rapport with field technicians, running toolbox talks, chairing the WHS committee and driving consultation across the business
- Owning the Safety Management System and its AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 certification, in close partnership with our group WHS function in Spain. Participating in surveillance and accreditation audits.
- Managing the full employee safety journey — inductions, training compliance, fitness for work, workers' compensation and return-to-work planning
- Investigating incidents with a genuine focus on learning and continuous improvement.
- Reporting WHS performance and insights to Australian leadership and our global WHS team through structured monthly and quarterly reviews
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years' WHS experience, ideally in renewables, electrical, construction or resources
- A Diploma or Bachelor's in WHS/OHS (or equivalent experience)
- Experience implementing and maintaining an ISO 45001:2018 Safety Management System
- Solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and codes of practice across jurisdictions
- A natural people leader — someone who builds trust, communicates with influence
- Current First Aid/CPR, White Card and driver's licence and ability to travel interstate.
- Return to work and injury management experience
- Highly developed relationship and rapport building skills
- Ability to take proactive action to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organisational safety and risk management processes.
Why Join Us?
You'll have real autonomy to shape safety outcomes for an Australian business embedded in a genuinely global organisation, with direct line of sight to group leadership in Spain. If you want a safety role where culture, coaching and compliance all matter equally — we'd can't wait to hear from you. Be part of the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects.
