Calamity Monitoring

New South Wales

Company Description

Calamity is a modern security company and provides security for thousands of customers and over $2bn in assets. We design and install new security systems as well as provide alarm monitoring and verification for existing security systems. We operate a world class 24/7 monitoring facility providing round-the-clock supervision of alarm systems, CCTV systems, life safety, environmental management and incident response services.

We are an ethical company with an unblemished reputation in the security industry.

Role Description

We are seeking a senior security technician who knows their craft and takes pride in doing things properly. This is not a cabling-heavy role and not an entry-level position. You will be working primarily on system design support, commissioning, advanced fault-finding, and upgrades across high-quality commercial and industrial sites. If you are tired of poor installs, corner‑cutting, and being sent to “fix someone else’s mess”, this role will suit you.

The Role

You will work across:

- Enterprise access control and intrusion systems
- Complex commissioning and troubleshooting
- Upgrades, expansions, and remediation of existing sites
- Client‑facing technical problem solving

Work is predominantly clean, technical, and cerebral rather than labour‑heavy. After‑hours work is rare and limited to genuine emergencies.

Systems You Will Work With

Experience with some or all of the following:

- Inner Range Inception (preferred – training provided if required)
- Inner Range Integriti
- GE Tecom Commander
- Permaconn
- Leading CCTV platforms

- Commercial alarm systems

You do not need to be an expert in everything – but you must be comfortable working independently on enterprise‑grade systems.

What We Are Looking For (Non‑Negotiable)

- Senior technician mindset
- Minimum 3 years industry experience
- Strong commissioning and fault‑finding capability
- NSW Security Industry Licence
- ACMA cabling registration
- Professional presentation and client‑appropriate communication
- Ability to work unsupervised and make sound technical decisions

What This Is Not

- Not a junior or apprenticeship role
- Not bulk domestic installs
- Not trenching, roof crawling, or cable‑pulling all day
- Not micromanaged

If you are still learning fundamentals, this will not be the right environment.

What We Offer

- $90,000 – $110,000 (negotiable for the right person)
- Late-model European vehicle – take home
- Phone, laptop, tools provided
- Small, experienced team
- Low staff turnover
- Strong reputation and ethical operation
- Clean work, good systems, proper documentation
- Sydney Metro work only

The Culture

- Straight-talking, qualified, and client-friendly
- High standards, no bullshit
- We back our technicians and expect accountability in return

Eligibility

You must have a clear criminal history, be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have full work rights (details on application) to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Act.

Calamity is a major employer of people with disabilities and provides a supportive environment for all team members.
